A project inspired by historic pigments to create pigments from native plants and combine my love of the outdoors and nature with my current primary medium, painting. 

I used a lake process with aluminum sulfate and soda ash to extract pigment from plants around a campsite. Inspired by reading Bright Earth: Art and the Invention of Color by Philip Ball.
