About me

Amy Ciavolino is an emerging queer visual artist based in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Before she called herself an artist, joy in creating led her to make things, from animated gifs that reached over 7 billion views online to ephemeral sculpture. Since late 2022, that impulse has found its most deliberate expression in painting, leading to a focused and rapidly developing practice.
Her recent work takes a zoomed in look at nature in the city, capturing the flowers that brighten our streets. These flowers are elevated through a portraiture lens, highlighting nature growing in margins of the urban landscape.
