About me

Amy Ciavolino is an emerging queer visual artist based in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. She is currently embracing painting as a primary medium, but has spent a lifetime creating art from animated gifs to photography and ephemeral sculpture. Her gifs have been widely shared online, reaching over 7 billion views

Her focus on painting began in 2022 and gained momentum in 2025 while participating in a year-long residency and professional development program. Now, she is at a key point in her development where she is honing her artistic voice and reaching for more challenging subjects. Her recent work takes a zoomed in look at nature in the city, capturing the flowers that brighten our streets. These flowers are elevated through a portraiture lens, highlighting the under-appreciated beauty of nature in the urban landscape. Read more in her Artist Statement.

Outside of her artistic practice, Amy is a Software Engineer and certified conflict mediator. Learn more about Amy’s other work at amy.tech.
